Las Vegas Sands President and Chief Operations Officer Robert Goldstein said he believes Osaka to be the only city in Japan suitable for a large-scale IR with “millions” of square feet of convention space, and thousands of hotel rooms.
Goldstein was speaking with analysts from Bernstein Research during a fireside chat at Bernstein’s 2019 Strategic Decision Conference.
During the talk, Goldstein said he believes the track record of building large-scale IRs in Singapore and Macau will give Las Vegas Sands an edge over their competitors.
Speaking of Macau, Goldstein was optimistic about the future, with belief that the VIP market will bounce back at some point. He also believes that income growth in China, along with better connectivity via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB) will drive gaming growth in Macau.
When asked about other markets, Goldstein noted that the only other market the company is considering entering is New York, and is currently engaging in conversations with partners. (AGB)
