According to the “Survey of Selected Service Industries” conducted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry to further understanding of business trends such as revenue in the service industry, the revenue per amusement machine saw a 2.8% increase of 12,500 yen (about US$114) to 456,000 yen (about US$4,183) in comparison to the same month of the previous year, a consecutively higher figure for two months running.
Calculated over 30 business days, this comes to a daily average of 15,200 yen (about US$139) per machine.
A total of 1,237 halls were surveyed in March across the selected companies, which was the same during the previous month. The average number of machines per hall came to 532.1, a figure roughly 100 machines higher than the national average as of December 2018.
The survey is targeted at applicable top-profit companies from across the nation that run businesses belonging to “Selected Service Industries” that by and large account for 70% of their yearly revenue, but in the case of pachinko businesses only 12% of the nation’s halls are consistently surveyed.
