Operators Welcome Hong Kong-Macau-Zhuhai Bridge Opening

Some of Macau’s operators on Wednesday celebrated the first trips across the new Hong Kong-Macau-Zhuhai bridge, which is expected to drastically improve accessibility to the gambling hub.

Sands China held a welcoming party at The Parisian Macau for several busloads of passengers who arrived at 11 am from Hong Kong after crossing the world’s longest sea bridge.

“The opening of this mega bridge marks another milestone in cross-border integration,” said Sands China President Wilfred Wong. “It can greatly shorten the traffic time between Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macau, thereby contributing to the forming of a ‘one-hour quality living circle’ in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.”

Galaxy Entertainment Group held an event to mark the first trip of the HKMO Express Shuttle, taking guests from the Cotai Strip to the Elements shopping mall in Hong Kong and back.

Arriving guests and passengers were given souvenir travel sets.

The HKMO Express will run from 7 am until 4:30 am every day.

Analysts have described the bridge as a potential game changer for Macau, in particular because it provides easy access to Hong Kong’s international airport, one of Asia’s main flight hubs. (AGB)
