Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment and the Paramount Pictures Corporation have announced an agreement to build a 404,000 square meter Paramount Pictures-branded theme park at the Inspire IR in Incheon, South Korea.
Mohegan, based in tribal land in the US state of Connecticut—and which has become the full owner of the US$5 billion Inspire IR since its Korean partner withdrew earlier this year—will begin its construction next year. Inspire is expected to open in 2022. The first phase is to include a five-star hotel with more than 1,250 rooms, a large concert and sports arena, and much more.
The Paramount theme park is now to become an additional step, scheduled to open in 2025.
Mohegan CEO Mario Kontomerkos stated, “We are pleased to have the major global force in entertainment, Paramount, on our impressive and growing list of strategic partners for Project Inspire. Aligning with highly sought after and recognized brands with mutual goals is a key component to the creation of the world’s first true integrated entertainment resort.”
Mohegan has also announced its interest in bidding for a regional IR in Japan. (AGB Nippon)
