IR Not Welcome in Kyoto

Yoshio Tateishi, head of the Kyoto Chamber of Commerce & Industry, made clear in a press conference on Tuesday that although his organization will support Osaka in its bid to build an IR at Yumeshima, the ancient capital of Japan itself has absolutely no interest in hosting its own such facility.

Nihon Keizai Shinbun quoted Tateishi as stating, “Kyoto is among the cultural capitals of the world. Both the government administration and the business community have a negative view toward hosting an IR.”

Tateishi does expect, however, that an Osaka IR would bring economic benefits to the entire Kansai region. (AGB Nippon)
